Focus on Goals

It is logical to assume that schools have goals laid down in a form of "School Development Plan" or SDP. Likewise, Head Teachers, Heads of Departments, Heads of Key Stages, and perhaps individual teachers might have their own, very personal goals.

So, how does a school achieve maximum impact and surety of outcome if the goals are not congruent and perhaps entirely in conflict?

If a Head Teacher sets goals for the school, they are personal, not team or mutually held goals and therefore unlikely to be achieved with the same certainty as those developed collaboratively.

Looking at the philosophy of Goal Mapping as designed by LIFT International and Presented by MLP Kevin Jefferson (MAD4Sure):
If Goals are adopted at all levels in schools, and the philosophy accepted as an appropriate means of motivating individuals and teams, and my approach will do precisely that, it necessarily follows that the Study Skills courses I deliver to students, will add skills and capabilities to students to support, underpin and ultimately achieve their goals.

The power behind and perhaps the defining difference with our Goal Mapping system when compared to most others, is the use of imagery and emotion, both of which have the effect of "turbo-charging" goals. In addition, we actively challenge or disturb and eradicate the limiting beliefs that stand in the way of achieving goals.

Going forward, Goals will be the key to success for all schools either feeling the pinch of financial constraint, feeling the hot breath (or is chilled) of Ofsted, or those wanting to see their students succeed despite all other efforts to derail the good things in education.
